Amori: Journal your feelings · Privacy policy
Amori - Privacy Policy
Amori · Journal your feelings
Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 24, 2026 · Applies to the Amori iOS app
Amori is a private feelings journal. I design for calm and trust: your emotional content is meant
for you.
This Privacy Policy explains how Amori collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use
the Amori mobile application on iOS (the "App").
By using Amori, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Who I am
Amori is built and run by one independent developer, published under the Apple Developer team associated with Amori on the App Store.
For privacy questions, contact: jlama@julio-lama.com
2. Information I collect
Depending on how you use Amori, I may process:
2.1 Account information
- Email address and authentication credentials when you create or sign in to an account
- Sign in with Apple identifiers if you choose Apple Sign-In
- A unique user ID used to keep your journal tied to your account across devices
2.2 Journal content you create
- Mood selections and tags
- The date and the time of day a feeling was recorded. A single day can hold several entries — a
difficult morning and a calmer evening are kept as separate moments, each with its own time
- Written notes
- Optional voice notes
- Optional photo keepsakes (Amori+)
- Favorites and related journal preferences
Notes, voice notes, and photo keepsakes are encrypted on your device before they are synced, using a
key derived from your password. Mood, tags, and timing are also encrypted in transit and at rest, and are additionally sealed within the entry so the App can rebuild your calendar and patterns across devices.
**Because your journal is encrypted with a key only you hold, I cannot read it — and I cannot
recover it.** If you forget your password and no longer have your recovery code, your written
notes, voice notes, and photo keepsakes cannot be opened again by anyone, including me. Resetting a
password without a recovery code creates a new key and starts a fresh journal; earlier sealed
content stays sealed. Amori offers a recovery code in Profile for exactly this reason. Please write
it down and keep it somewhere safe.
2.3 Emotional and well-being information
Amori exists to record how you feel, so the entries you create describe your emotional state over
time. Some privacy laws treat information about mental or emotional well-being as a sensitive or
special category of personal data. I handle it accordingly: it is encrypted, it is never used for
advertising, it is never sold, and it is never shared with anyone except the infrastructure providers described in Section 5 who store it on my behalf in encrypted form.
2.4 Purchases
- Amori+ subscription status and related App Store transaction information processed by Apple
- Payment card details are handled by Apple. I do not receive your full payment card number.
2.5 Device & app information
- Basic technical data needed to run the App (such as device OS version and app version), as provided
through normal iOS / App Store mechanisms
- Diagnostic reports when the App crashes or misbehaves, so I can fix it (see Section 5)
- Local notification settings if you enable gentle daily reminders (scheduled on device)
2.6 Face ID, Touch ID, and your passcode
You can ask Amori to require Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode before it opens. This check is performed entirely by iOS. Amori never receives, sees, or stores your face, your fingerprint, or your passcode — the device answers the App with nothing more than "yes" or "no."
2.7 Home Screen and Lock Screen widget
If you add the Amori widget, the App shares one thing with it on your device: the date of the day you last logged something, so the widget can show whether today has an entry. No mood, no note, no tags, and no journal content of any kind is shared with the widget, and nothing about the widget leaves your device.
2.8 What I do not collect for advertising
Amori does not use third-party advertising SDKs, does not sell your personal information, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising.
3. How I use information
- Provide and sync your private journal across your signed-in devices
- Authenticate your account and protect access to your data
- Enable optional Amori+ features you purchase (insights, recaps, photo keepsakes)
- Deliver local reminders you choose to enable
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve App reliability and security
- Comply with law and respond to valid legal requests
I do not use your journal content to train machine-learning models, and I do not read it. Insights and recaps are produced on your device from your own entries.
4. How I store and protect information
- Journal data is stored on your device and synced to a cloud backend (Supabase) associated with your
account
- Notes, voice notes, and photo keepsakes are sealed on your device before sync. The key that opens
them is derived from your password and is never sent to me in a form I can use
- Your recovery code is never stored or transmitted — only the sealed key it can open
- I use industry-standard safeguards appropriate to a consumer journal app; no method of transmission
or storage is 100% secure
5. Sharing of information
I share information only as needed to operate Amori:
- Supabase — hosts authentication, database, and file storage for your account, under contractual
obligations to protect data
- Sentry — receives crash and performance diagnostics so I can find and fix faults. Amori is
configured not to send personal information to Sentry, and diagnostic reports never contain journal
content
- Apple — for Sign in with Apple, App Store distribution, notifications infrastructure where
applicable, and In-App Purchases / subscriptions
- Legal requirements, if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process
I do not sell your personal information.
6. Amori+
Amori+ is optional. Core check-in features remain available without a subscription. Subscription
purchases and renewals are managed by Apple; manage or cancel in your Apple ID subscriptions settings.
7. Children's privacy
Amori is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has
provided personal information, contact me and I will take appropriate steps to delete it.
8. Your choices & rights
- You can edit or delete any entry, or any single moment within a day, in the App
- You can export your entire journal from Profile. The export is an archive containing your entries
as both machine-readable JSON and plain readable Markdown, together with your voice notes and photos,
decrypted and ready to keep or move elsewhere. Notes that cannot be decrypted on that device are
marked as sealed rather than exported as blank
- You can require Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode before the App opens
- You can turn reminders on or off in Profile
- You can sign out of your account in Profile
- You can delete your account and associated journal data in Profile
- You may also request access, correction, or deletion of account-associated data by contacting me
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws
9. Data retention
I retain account and journal data while your account remains active and as needed to provide the App. If you request deletion, I will delete or de-identify personal data within a reasonable period, except where I must retain information for legal, security, or operational reasons. Deleting your account from Profile removes your entries and your stored voice notes and photos.
10. International processing
Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where I or my service
providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your home country.
11. Changes to this Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. I will revise the effective date above and, when
appropriate, provide additional notice in the App or on the App Store listing.
